英语专业教育的意义是对女性的教育、对中华民族的教育。它旨在培养有着坚实的学科基础和学术基础的复合型人才、实践能力强的应用型人才，重视语言和商务技能的学习，同时也兼顾文化底蕴与综合素质的培养。
英语专业学习的范筹包括语言与文化这两大方面。首先，语音方面包括语音学、语法学、语言学、词汇学、文体学、修辞学、写作、翻译（笔译、口译、同传）、商务英语以及第二外语等。文化方面包括英语国家概况（美、英、加、澳、新）、英国文学、美国文学、西方文明史、西方思想经典、西方文化礼仪等。
英语专业课程的学习要求学生必须掌握本科英语专业技能（听、说、读、写、译）的训练方法，从而更好更快地提高英语学习的效率。正如军训时教官对我们所说的：“态度决定一切！”只有对英语专业学习抱着努力拼搏、坚持不懈的态度，抱着“求知、好知、乐知”的态度，才能够更好地、真正地学好英语。
英语专业的学生主要学习英语语言、文学、历史、政治、经济、外交、社会文化等方面基本理论和基本知识，受到英语听、说、读、写、译等方面的良好的技巧训练，掌握一定的科研方法，具有从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作的业务水平及较好的素质和较强能力。
本专业培养具有扎实的英语语言基础和比较广泛的科学文化知识，能在外事、经贸、文化、新闻出版、教育、科研、旅游等部门从事翻译、研究、教学、管理工作的英语高级专门人才。

认知的英文
英语首先是一门语言 。每个语言都反射出一个民族的一些特点，比如说中文比较圆滑，委婉。英式英语很绅士（淑女），端庄大方。
美语很直接，粗狂。眼下英语作为通用语言，使用率很高。虽然不说不懂英文寸步难行，但是学好英语就等于给自己开了一扇更为宽广的窗户，对自己将来的发展也是一种很好的铺垫。学一门语言光靠看书本是不行的，唯一的途径就是多说，多看，多用。
英语已经发展了1400多年。英语的最早形式是由盎格鲁-撒克逊人移民于5世纪带到英国的一组西日耳曼语支（Ingvaeonic）方言，被统称为古英语。
