Amazon Plain“亚马逊”或“亚马孙”都译自“Amazon”。
在大中小学与地理相关的教科书中，都统一译为“亚马孙”。因此，在学术上一般也译为“亚马孙”。实际上，从发音角度考虑，“亚马孙”也更为接近。
“亚马逊”这个译法也多见于港澳台出版物上。在一些非学术的旅游杂志上，也常可以见到“亚马逊”的译法。因此，口语中多受此影响，混称为“亚马逊”。为了便于大众理解，很多非学术性的电视节目也常译为“亚马逊”，例如**《冲出亚马逊》。
我的家乡
