-读 hyphen
A hyphen ( -, or ‐ ) is a punctuation mark. It is used both to join words and to separate syllables. It is often confused with a dash ( –, —, ― ), which is longer and has a different function. Hyphenation is the use of hyphens.

Dash (symbol --)
The dash is used to indicate a sharp break in the flow of thought, or to indicate a sudden change in tone.
Example:
I thought he could be trusted with my secret--but I was wrong!
The dash is also used to set off a parenthetical remark, after an introductory series, and, in written dialogue, to indicate an unfinished sentence.
Examples:
(1) Although the doberman may look like a canine killing machine--and
many Hollywood movies encourage this view--most dogs of this
breed are gentle and affectionate.
(2) A smoking gun, a blood-stained blanket, and two used matches--
these were all the clues we had to go on.
(3) "Surely you're not going to--" Samantha gasped in horror.

您好,如果您要读这样的句子,句子里面有’这个符号,那么后面一般是接“s”,这个时候,“’” 符号不读,只把这个符号前面的英文读出来,然后接一个[s]的音就可以了。例如:it's就读作[its],he's就读作[his]。
如果您要单独用英文说“’”这个符号,那么就要用表示这个符号的单词:apostrophe。
满意就采纳吧。
