流行音乐是根据英语Popular Music翻译过来的。流行音乐准确的概念应为商品音乐，是指以盈利为主要目的而创作的音乐。
它是商业性的音乐消遣娱乐以及与此相关的一切“工业”现象。（见前苏联《音乐百科词典》1990年版）它的市场性是主要的，艺术性是次要的。
流行音乐19世纪末20世纪初起源于美国，从音乐体系看，流行音乐是在叮砰巷歌曲、布鲁斯、爵士乐、摇滚乐、索尔音乐等美国大众音乐架构基础上发展起来的音乐。
其风格多样，形态丰富，可泛指Jazz、Rock、Soul、Blues、Reggae、Rap、Hip-Hop、Disco、New Age、Funk、R&B等20世纪后诞生的都市化大众商品音乐。
流行音乐，根据英语Popular Music翻译过来的。按照汉语词语表面去理解，所谓流行音乐，是指那些结构短小、内容通俗、形式活泼、情感真挚，并被广大群众所喜爱，广泛传唱或欣赏，流行一时的甚至流传后世的器乐曲和歌曲。
这些乐曲和歌曲，植根于大众生活的丰厚土壤之中。因此，又有"大众音乐”之称。
但是，这样的界定有可能使那些本不属于流行音乐的音乐，仅仅因为它们也在群众中广泛流传而都可被划归为流行音乐，如：《国际歌》、《义勇军进行曲》、《马赛曲》、《洪湖水浪打浪》、《歌唱祖国》、《东方红》、《南泥湾》等。
另一方面，又把那些分明是流行的音乐，由于它们流传不开（这在流行音乐中也为数不少）而排除在流行音乐之外。显然，流行音乐不一定都流行，流行的音乐也不一定是流行音乐，流行音乐是指被大众熟知的音乐。

Lisa Ono
Lisa Ono出生在巴西，原籍日本。她的歌声很空灵，没有任何杂质。音乐是久长的沉淀物，她的作品都很有生命力，可以说是永远不过时的。个人原因，我只在一个人的时候听她的曲子。
我放在帖子里的这首《La Vie En Rose》（点击下载）是发表于1942年的老歌，原唱者Edith Piaf。Lisa Ono的演绎是六十多个版本里最成功的，她抽取了原唱中间的精华部分。

去年这个时候，一个喜欢玩鼓的朋友叫我去听Emi Fujita。味道不错，很清新。一直觉得她不是土生土长的日本人，闭上眼睛，你可能也会觉得这是美国人的声音。

Diana Krall在演唱方面很擅长把握爵士乐的韵律，厚度也很到位。据说她的父亲拥有几乎所有三十年代爵士钢琴家Fats Waller的老唱片，并通晓二、三十年代几乎所有爵士钢琴演奏家。这些应该都是Diana Krall难得的早期教材。个人觉得，她身上多少有些Nat King Cole的影子。
相比而言，我更喜欢现场版的《The Look Of Love》（点击下载）。 Diana Krall布置的一切都很到位，这是我听过的最好的Bossa Nova Jazz，节奏感灵动，但柔劲充足。到处是咖啡和烟的味道。

Laura Fygi
在中央台音乐频道第一次看到Laura Fygi的现场表演，荷兰人的爵士乐，很有欧洲气质。她的歌声很像酒精，纯美致极。
法国作曲家Joseph Kosma在1945年创作了这首《Autumn Leaves》（点击下载），Laura Fygi版本是几百首翻唱中的最上乘作品。这首被重新演绎的幽怨柔美旋律，此时仍旧保留着浓郁的法国香颂气息。

齐豫的《橄榄树》一直是我最喜欢的华语歌曲，感觉她的嗓子很适合唱天碟。她的那张《佛心》以及后来成为《天浴》**配乐的《欲水》都曾让我眼前一亮。现在广东、福建、海南的寺庙基本都用使用齐豫版的《大悲咒》，这种环境音乐的录音及编曲都是国内一流的。

Helene Segara很能玩弄法国风情，她的嗓音一般在编曲中并十分突出，但包含魅惑迷离的特质，非常喜欢她用温软的都会爵士乐曲，可以让我情不自禁地醉过去。
