苏格兰老歌《Auld Lang Syne》译过来就是友谊地久天长的意思了，属于古英语。又名《过去的好时光》。初见于1788年，是一首非常古老的民歌。据说曾为英国早年的作曲家威廉.希尔德用于它的歌剧《罗西娜》的序曲中。由于威廉.希尔德长住在离苏格兰不远的达拉姆，所以这首歌曲很像是苏格兰民歌。
18世纪后，这首歌曲又由苏格兰农民诗人罗伯特.彭斯进行了整理，此后人们都认为这是一首古老的苏格兰民歌。这首歌曲朴实、动听，几乎传遍了全世界。在苏格兰地区还形成了边歌边舞的形式。人们交叉双臂、握住两边人的手，随着音乐节奏组成圆圈边歌边舞。
