Iris, The Happy Professor or (Professor Iris, as it was called in the United States , where it aired on TLC as part of Ready Set Learn) was a Canadian-produced television puppet show that ran from 1992 to 1994, revolving around Professor Iris, a purple ibis who taught his class, which included his three students; Piano, Skeleton, and Plant The Profssor would teach a variety of subjects to his students and would always wear bowties based on whatever the lesson was, not unlike Ms Frizzle and her dresses from The Magic School Bus Also featured on the show was Ms Principal, the school's headmistress who would often come in, complaining about the noises

夜里，他因帮助主人抓住黄鼠狼而重获自由。他一心想成为一个用功读书的好孩子，可是又经不起诱惑。在坏同学的怂恿下又逃学到海边看鲨鱼，后又被卖到玩具国，变成一头蠢驴。后来还是仙女搭救了他。最后，他们父子在鲨鱼腹中意外重逢，并设法逃了出来，在海边住下。从此，小木偶每天去做工，有空还编篮子，晚上读书、写字，终于成为一个诚实、听话、又爱学习，还能帮助父母的好孩子。
这篇童话，通过皮诺曹的种种曲折、离奇的经历，表现小木偶热爱正义、痛恨邪恶、天真纯洁的品质，教育儿童要抵御种种诱惑，做一个诚实、听话、爱学习、爱劳动，并能帮助父母的好孩子。作品成功地塑造了小木偶的形象。他聪明、善良、顽皮而又任性，他的故事给孩子们以有益的教诲和艺术的感染。作品被译成多种文字，深受各国小读者们的喜爱。
