影片有两种结局：
第一种结局（公映版结局）是，就在男主角成功分离出抗体的时刻，夜魔也侵入了他的堡垒，他只能牺牲自己性命让那对逃命至此的母子两离开，最后这两个人将他以生命为代价换来的抗体送到少数没有感染病毒也没有抗体的人类聚居地。
第二种结局是，夜魔们攻破主角的堡垒后，男首领在实验室的玻璃上画了一个蝴蝶图案（被男主角捕获做实验的女夜魔身上有蝴蝶纹身），男主角这是才明白了夜魔之所以疯狂攻击他的堡垒就是为了救出那个女夜魔，男首领的情人，最终男主角把女夜魔还给了男首领，也彻底改变了自己三年来认为夜魔没有智商、没有感情的看法，承认了夜魔作为一个新物种与人类的平等存在，与逃难至此的安娜母子驾车前往佛蒙特州的幸存者聚居地
