荷东的全称是 Hollywood East Star Trax - 东方好莱坞明星舞会。香港译“荷里活东方明星舞会”简称“荷东”。荷东的发源地在香港，其实是香港一家 Disco 舞厅的名称。当时全球兴起了一种新的舞曲元素“EUROBEAT”，这家 Disco 舞厅的 DJ 们后来更创意地利用当时一些极其流行的EUROBEAT DISCO歌曲重新Remix,并推出专辑，结果疯魔了整个东南亚，获得空前成功，销量数以十万计。自此，“荷东”便成为Dance Music中一个极富代表性的名字，亦成为了Disco Scene的一个里程碑。
荷东在大陆共出版了十张专集，加上两张串烧集，共十二集。在香港出版了九集加上一个《圣诞特辑》一共也有十集,另外还有精选合集1 和 2。两第合计共二十四集。
所有听过荷东音乐的人肯定都知道一首歌，原名叫《Brother Louie》，林珊珊翻唱的粤语版叫《连锁反应》，邓洁仪翻唱的国语版叫《路灯下的小姑娘》，这首歌实在是太好听了，以至于被50多种语言翻唱，都还记得“在一盏路灯的下面，有一个小姑娘在哭亲爱的，小妹妹，不要不要哭泣”
这首歌的原唱 Modern Talking 是两人的德国Pop组合，在80年代中后期红遍世界，留下了Brother Louie, Atlantis is Calling, Cheri Cheri Lady,You're My Heart, You're My Soul 这些经典，Atlantis is Calling 和 You're My Heart, You're My Soul 都收录在了当年的《猛士》和《荷东》里。后来乐队解散，90年代后期重新组合，出了新的专辑。
